5 Reasons to use comment tracking Tools

7 July 2010 3 Comments

Bloggers do not only spend time in writing articles but also spend considerable time on reading posts and participating on other blogs. People often participate in discussions via comments. Commenting on blogs is also used for PR and brand awareness. Comments are also excellent research tools as they allow you to track discussion and response on certain topics.

There are many reasons why you would want to track you Comments. If you participate in discussions and leave comments professionally, for example PR, marketing or SEO, then tracking your comments is vital to your strategy. Without the right tools, it can be difficult to keep track of all your comments and conversations as there is no easy way to do this. Discussions can end abruptly if you are not aware of responses to your comments.

I participate in discussion to research new trends in Web design and some times to improve the profile of the Web design company I work with. I often have to revisit the blogs I have commented on to see if someone has responded to my comment. Comment racking tools help me to manage this process with ease. To keep track of all my comments and responses manually would have taken a lot of time and would be impossible to do in light of my other tasks. Some blogs offer plugins that can notify you if someone comments on a post, however a central place to manage all your comments offers many benefits.

5 Reasons to use comment tracking Tools:

1. Tools allow you to keep track of all of comments you leave on different blogs.

2. There is a central place to see and manage your comments.

3. You receive notifications when a new comment is added to conversation.

4. Some tools also offer the ability to push comments to your blogs via a widget. This makes it easier to add new content.

5. Comment racking tools save you time. You can simply click on links to visit respective posts rather than having to visit each post individually on the browser.

6. Comment tracking tools allow you to measure the impact of your discussions. With the help of tools you can see which discussions create the most impact or become viral.

We have discussed the main advantages of comment tracking tools. In the next post we will discuss 6 Ways to track your comments.

You may not see the benefits of tracking comments at first. However the benefits will be evident soon after. Before you realise you will be spending hours daily on SEO and Social media. Comment tracking will allow you to better manage your time by focusing your strategy.

Comment tracking is useful if you wish to monitor a discussion. On some blogs you can choose to be notified when someone comments. This will only work if you provide correct email address when commenting. On some technical blogs users will ask questions in comments and often receive expert responses from author and other users. You may wish to tracking these comments.

The benefits are obvious, but there are no really good comment tracking tools.

I have tried co.mment, and cocomment in the past. Co.mment disappointed in reliability (too many conversations that are not tracked properly) and attitude (all conversations thrown into public feed, no choice to keep them quiet). I dropped cocomment back in time because it became too ambitiously social and intrusive, but it could have changed … it is a while ago.
