The Blog
Web design companies are using Joomla increasing to develop cutting edge websites for their customers. Joomla is a powerful content management system that is free to use.
Joomla is equally beneficial for a start up company or small business as it is for an established business. A Start up company (start-up venture) often has limited budget whether it is for website design or for any other business needs. Unless the business is an online venture; it is a common practice for start up companies to invest only in a simple informational website to begin with. Such a website may have a visually appealing design but often offers limited functionality.
Although all businesses small or large understand the value of an up market website; limited funds often prevent a start up company from investing in a powerful website to start with. In later stages when the business has grown a business can justify the higher costs involved in developing a full fledged database driven website.
Joomla allows a start up company to meet this challenge as it allows them to utilise a powerful website at a fraction of the cost. A Website designed in Joomla is powerful and rich with features found mostly on websites of established businesses. Joomla enables a start up company to have a strong online presence from the start thereby gaining competitive advantage over its competitors.
Joomla reduces the cost of developing a powerful database driven website manifolds.
Internet today plays a vital role in our day to lives. The changes in consumer behaviour pattern have made having an effective online presence a necessity for any business to succeed.
Lack of in-house technical expertise is another reason that prevents a start up company from utilising advanced websites or web based applications. Traditional database driven websites and content management systems can be complicated to use and require technical knowledge or training to use. Lack of funds for training coupled with lack of manpower with technical knowledge may prevent a start up company from using a content management system or a powerful web based software.
Joomla on the other hand is easy to use and does not require technical knowledge to use. Commonly used tasks do not require any training or technical experience. In most cases a Joomla website configured properly at launch will not require any maintenance or administration.
Websites designed in Joomla are interactive. Unlike traditional informational websites designed in Joomla are interactive and facilitate two way interaction between the company and users. Features such as customer registration, Registration for newsletters and enquiry forms come built into Website designed with Joomla.
Joomla is free to use and does not have any on going licence fee. This is appealing for start up companies and smaller businesses as cost of maintaining the website is almost null. This does not compromise the quality of the website in any way and some of the most successful websites are designed in Joomla. Established businesses as well start up and smaller companies across the world have preferred to use Joomla over other content management systems.

Having messed around with web designers for years and getting ripped of is this something I could use for my deep cleaning business and build it myself?
I am starting a little business and it was great and usefull for me. I did not know a lot of technical details about different web design software but this article has given me some knowledge. I can now see that why both Joomla and WordPress are good for different scenarios depending on what feature is needed on website.
thanks.
In my MIS class, I am responsible for making a website evaluating communication methods on our campus (I’m focusing on those tower looking emergency call station things) Visual appeal of the website is a substantial portion of the grade, so do you think Joomla would be a good choice in designing my page? If so, where would I go to learn it? Thanks so much!
Dear John,
Joomla has a very active online community. There are literally tons of websites and blogs offering Joomla tutorials. A good place to start will be the official Joomla guide on Joomla.org or you can search on Google. My recommendation will be for hands on approach i.e. download and install Joomla either on your local desktop or on a server and play around with it. It is fairly easy to get a standard site up using one of the default templates. Once you familiarise yourself with it, you can try out new templates, extensions, etc.
A great thing about Joomla is the many different available third-party extensions that you can install with a click of a button to add new features to your Joomla website. Once you have the core Joomla set-up, you can look at extensions.joomla.org for free extensions to download and install on your Joomla Website. I hope this information is of help to you. If you need further advise please feel free to post your questions here. I will do my best to guide you as much as I can.
Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is magnificent blog. A fantastic read. I’ll certainly be back.
Dear Chris,
Thank you for your constructive criticism. I agree, I have failed to use images in many of my older posts. However I realise the power of images and I make it a point to include images in all my new posts.
You must really love this. Good work.
Joomla is the best ever CMS for website design due to the huge number of extensions developed by the community. Whatever website you are building, you can find every possible function in Joomla
Thank you for this great post. Web designers and businesses world over are using Joomla for anything from small brochure sites to complex web applications. It is better to select a web design company that has significant experience in this matter. Like other open source systsems, Joomla requires expert skills and experience especially if you want to extend the main features.

I agree that Joomla certainly is one of the most versatile and powerful CMSs on the market and the fact that it is free and very easy to get setup and running and maintaining makes it an ideal choice.

Websites today have evolved much beyond only offering direct information about what a company sells or offers. With the popularity of Web2, it has become increasingly important for website owners to offer varied information on their website. Website owners spend much more time today than ever before to ensure information and content is up to date and valuable to users. Without this the long term success of any website is limited.
My first three Design in Theory and Practice columns investigated the fundamental concepts underlying the design profession. These concepts come in a variety of forms, from abstract tenets and objects used to construct a composition to constraints based on the medium in which we choose to design.
but Thx a lot for for your post.
The more time that is spent dissecting, analyzing, and critiquing a design by the wrong kinds of people the worse that design gets. The same trend applies to the number of people involved in the design process.
Thx a lot for infomation!
