A successful blog for your business can add exceptional value to your business. It can create loyal customers, build trust and attract a large number of potential customers that you would have otherwise not been able to target. The methods discussed in this article show you how to blog for business successfully and maximise its benefits for your business.

Running a successful blog for your business is a great way to improve its online presence.  A blog can improve your search engine ranking and improve your credibility and influence on social media.

Blogging is particularly beneficial for small to medium sized businesses that may not have the high budgets required to promote their products or convey their message to customers using traditional advertising mediums such as print or television.

I am often asked by clients how they can use a blog to grow their business online and be successful at it. I have hence put together a list of 21 tips designed to teach you how to blog for business effectively and achieve desired results. It will help you get started with your business blog.

Although there are other blogging platforms our there, you should use WordPress to set up your business blog. WordPress is excellent for SEO and pages tend to rank favourably on search engine results with minimal effort. 2. Host Your Own Blog

Although you have the option of using a free hosted service such as wordpress.Com or Blogger.Com, it is important to host your business blog on your existing web hosting provider under your company’s domain name. A blog set-up in a sub-folder of your existing domain name e.g. yourcompany.com/blog will offer maximum SEO benefits. After all SEO is one of the primary objectives blogging for business.

3. Choose Your Niche Carefully

21. Leverage traffic between your blog and website

This applies if your website and blog are independent to each other, which is mostly the case. Many users will arrive directly on blogs posts bypassing you company’s homepage and vice versa. You can take steps to integrate or link your site and blog together where feasible to ensure you can leverage traffic from both sources to each other.

There are many simple ways to achieve this. You can list the 10 most recent posts and/of popular posts on the homepage of your company’s website. Similarly, you can include a link to your company’s website in an author box and display it at the bottom of each post on your blog. You can also include a link to your company website’s homepage on your blog navigation. You can also use contextual links to relevant website page in your blog post content where appropriate. You should do this carefully without compromising the readability or usability of content.

      Both, Guest Posting on other sites as well inviting contributions from other bloggers on your blog are very useful techniques. It is a natural progression for most people who start a blog. As you have rightly pointed out, it is a great way to get more coverage. It lets you tap into the community of other popular blogs relevant to your niche.

    I was wondering on a similar note, Giving up your job to work at home either as a blogger or website entrepreneur is just about everyone’s dream. However, in reality, only a select group of people will succeed. Online business success has everything to do with how you handle your internet presence, and blogging is an important part of it.

      You are absolutely right. I think a lot of people who start blogging underestimate the amount of work that is required to run a successful blog. It is by no means a get rich quick scheme. It took me two years before I could see any success. But it does come eventually. You are right that most people will not succeed with blogging, at least will not make a decent living from it. But the small percentage that do are the ones that don’t give up.
