The Blog
There are many ways to make money from a website or blog. However it requires hard work and persistence. In order to make money from your website, it is important that your website receives high traffic and offers potential for growth within your niche.
Making money from your website is common today. For many years, professional bloggers and publishers have been using their website as a profitable medium for making money on the Internet. If you have a website or blog that offers value to visitors, you too can make money with the help of the methods listed in this article.
Here are the top 10 ways to make money from your website.
Top 10 Ways To Make Money From Website
1. Google Adsense
Adsense is by far the most popular method of making money from your website. It is free to join and easy to implement. All you need to do is register for free and place a few lines of code provided, anywhere on you website where you want the ads displayed.
Google automatically monitors your content and will display contextual ads related to your content. It uses two of the most popular methods to calculate your earnings, pay per click and pay per 1000 impressions. Adsense continues to be one of highest earners for many websites and blogs. We recently covered a post on this blog featuring the Top Adsesense earners that earn in Millions.

2. Chitika
Chitika is another ad platform for websites that displays contextual ads related to your website content. It offers a larger variety of ads to choose from that Adsense. Like Adsense, it is very easy to implement on your website, by simply including a few lines of html code that is provided, on any part of your website.
Chitika’s e-MiniMalls and Shoplincs formats display product ads on your website based on your keywords. You can increase the number of ads you display by using Chitika alongside Adsense which only allows a maximum of 3 ad units per page.

3. Amazon Associates
Amazon Associates is an affiliate program that allows you to make money from your website or blog. It is free and easy to join. Unlike Adsense and Chitika, you do not earn on pay per click or pay per 1000 impressions but instead earn commissions on sales of Amazon products on your website or blog.
Amazon Associates allows websites to display Amazon products by including one of the available widgets on your website. There are a range of Ad slots and options available for you to choose from. Although its widgets are most popular on websites or blogs, you can also create a full e-commerce shop for its products. At 4% commissions are small but can add up based on total volumes of sales.

4. Private Sponsored Ads
Sponsored ads or banners sold directly to others have the potential for turning into a highly profitable revenue stream for your website or blog. 125px by 125 px banners ads on blogs are the perfect example. Popular websites that command a high traffic can charge hundreds per month for a single ad unit on their website.
Unlike other types of ads listed here, private ads can have a fixed permanent income per month. However, this type of Ad is only feasible on popular websites that receive high traffic. If your website is new, it can take some time before advertisers will want to advertise on your site using private banner ads. It also requires administration to manage the process as advertisers pay directly.
5. Shopzilla
Shopzilla is fairly new system for displaying ads on your website or blog. Although it is relatively, Shopzilla has proved effective for many websites and blogs. It has received good reviews from many professional bloggers who have been impressed by its performance and earning potential.
It is similar to Chitika in many ways although it does not offer as many options and variations. Shopzilla may be new, but it offers higher click values than some other ad platforms and offers promising potential.

6. Receive Donations on your website or blog
Accepting donations on your site is another common method for generating revenue. This is most commonly found on blogs. It is usually in the form of a simple ‘Donate’ button displayed on blogs.Although I have personally never used this on any of my websites, I have heard other bloggers that it indeed works.
Popular blogs like Steve Pavlina.Com, that offer valuable content to readers, have been able to use this method successfully to generate revenue where it has proved to be one of the highest sources of income every month. Although it is easy to implement, this method can only work on some sites or blogs and results are not consistent.
7. Yahoo Publishers Network (YPN)
Yahoo Publishers Network, commonly known as YPN is almost identical to Google’s Adsense. It works similar to Adsense and is free to use. Like Adsense publishers can choose from a range of Ad sizes to display on their website or blog.
One of the biggest drawbacks of Yahoo Publishers Network is that it is only available to US customers. Because of this, it is currently not accessible to most bloggers and site owners.

8. E-Books or Paid Content
Offering paid content to your visitors is another popular and very effective method to earn money from you website. E-Book is one of the most common type of paid content. Paid reports or subscription based members only websites is another method that has been used successfully by many internet entrepreneurs to make money from their website. In spite of its potential, it is quite challenging. Offering paid content requires a lot of research, effort and time.
A great example of a site that earns revenue from paid content is Econsultancy.com who sell a number of high value reports on their site.

Successful subscription based websites and e-Books make millions in revenue. Many professional bloggers have succeeded by repackaging existing content from their blog into paid e-Books that can then be sold with the help of affiliate services such as Clickbank.
9. Help sell others’ products (Affiliate Marketing)
Selling products made by others on your website is another very popular method for making money from websites. Amazon Associates programme discussed earlier is also a form of affiliate marketing. There are many others. Your earnings are calculated based on commissions received by selling other people’s products on your site. There are many businesses that offer commissions on sales of their products or services. You can either include a direct link to their products or write a review together with a link to buy the product. You earn a commission whenever a visitor from your your website goes to the affiliate site and makes a purchase.
Affiliate marketing differs from other methods such as Adsense because you get paid only when a visitor makes a purchase as opposed to the number of Ad clicks or impressions. The earning potential is high as it is a percentage of the sale. It requires significant effort to sell products however if you are successful, it can be a long term source of income.
Ebay Partner Network and ClickBank. Com are two popular places to find affiliate products to sell on your website.
10. WidgetBucks
WidgetBucks advertises itself as the most viable alternative to Google Adsense. It allows you to include widgets on your website or blog where products are displayed. Although WidgetBucks displays products on your website, your Earnings are based on Pay per click as opposed to on sales commissions. A key difference between this and other ad systems is that products ads are rotated dynamically on a page without refreshing the page. This allows more products to be displayed within the same allocated space as compared with other Ad networks. Theoretically, this can improve the chances of conversion.

You can select the size of the widget, product categories and rotation interval between 1 to 10 seconds. It is one of the easiest ad platforms to use for publishers. Bloggers have found WidgetBucks particularly effective on sites that offer product reviews. WidgetBucks currently offer a $25 sign-up bonus.
