The Blog
Updating content is one of the best ways to revitalize and breath fresh life into your old blog posts. It can help generate fresh interest from readers and drive new traffic to your blog. Creating content for your blog takes time and effort. It makes sense to ensure you receive maximum leverage and benefits from your content.
In an earlier post on this blog, we had covered 10 ways to breathe life into your old blog posts. In this post we are going to look at some additional ways this can be achieved.
11. Create an Info-Graphic
Info-graphic or Information graphic are graphical representations of information, data, facts or figures. You can use to present important information relevant to your topic in a visually appealing manner.
Use of info-graphics is popular on blogs. You can easily create an info-graphic to highlight key points on your topic and include it in your blog post like a standard image. Below is an examples of a simple info-graphic I created in Photoshop for my blog post about Growth of Facebook – 10 Awesome Facts. It took me under 5 minutes to create.

12. Take Advantage of Social Media
Businesses small or large are using social media to promote their brand as well as products and services. Social media has proved equally effective for blogs. A majority of blogs, established and new, engage actively in social media in order to promote content.
It can also prove effective for reviving old blog posts by generating fresh interest. Try to use a new and improved description or title if feasible. Perhaps you can update your post with new information before talking about it on your social networks.
Tip:
You can use Tweet Old Post Plugin for WordPress to Randomly Tweet Your Old Blog Posts

13. Â RSS Feed
RSS feed plays a vital role in building the loyalty and readership of your blog. Many users access website content via its RSS feed. By including old blog posts in your feed, you can generate fresh interest and drive readers to your old posts.
Although I haven’t used this approach myself, many bloggers recommend using this method to drive readers attention towards important timeless content. I would recommend doing this occasionally and only for posts that are either important or have been updated with lots of new information.
Tip:
You can try the OPP (Old promoter) WordPress plugin
This WordPress plugin by the Blog Traffic Exchange promotes older blog posts by reviving them and returning them to the front page and sending them back in to the RSS feed.
14. Promote Your Updates
You can also promote old posts that you have been updated with new information. This is particularly beneficial for topics that are either popular or have been updated with lots of new information. Highlighting such updates can boost the interest in the topic and drive new traffic to your post. You can easily blog about it or talk about it on various social networks you use.
15. Use Related Posts
Displaying related posts, typically at the bottom of your blog posts, is a common technique to encourage wider readership of the blog. Related posts are a great way to generate interest in your older posts. It helps drive traffic from your popular posts towards older content. Â It is a must use feature on all blogs.

16. Make Introductory Paragraph More Appealing
The introductory paragraph of your blog post has a big impact on readership. Often readers make the decision to read the rest of the post based on the first few lines. Updating the opening paragraph of your old posts where feasible can prove useful for reviving some of your older content. It can make it more appealing to readers and generate fresh interest in your content. Introductory paragraph of any given post is a great way to capture the reader’s interest and encourage them to read further.
Only consider revising posts where necessary. Don’t just do it for search engines; instead keep your readers in mind. It can be a great way to capture the reader’s interest and encourage them to read further.
Summary:
Updating content is one of the best ways to breathe new life to your old blog posts. Professional bloggers are constantly refining their content to make it more valuable and useful for readers. It is a great way to improve the quality of the content.
Every update you make to your content, however small or large, will also benefit your search engine ranking for that page and your website in general.
