Semi-Automated Article Submission:

Semi automated article submission software are recommended and highly beneficial. Semi automated submission software keeps track of your article and different fields of information that need o be entered on the submission form. You click on each article website in the list and the software will open the website in a built-in web browser that comes with the semi-automated software. However you do not need to enter all the information by hand as the software will ted to remember and auto-fill the fields. You still have to manually click in the submit button. It is called semi automated because some level of user interaction is required. You will need o manually click on the link for ah directory and then submit. Most automated or semi-automated software claim to submit over 200 article directories. However a small proportion of them do not work.
A lot of the article websites included are either not related to your industry/niche or have low page rank.
Often some of the top article directories are not supported by the software. In such cases manual submission to the sites is encouraged.

Conclusion:

All in all article submission software can be useful and save valuable time. However it should exist alongside your manual submission strategy. Automated submission can be used for added exposure or back links but the main article directories should ideally be submitted to manually.

This is a very important point. You can’t just submit one or two articles and expect to have constant traffic from it. There are a lot of articles out there where the quality is really lacking. Along with the great guidelines you gave, think about doing shorter articles to help with the demand. I’ve seen good quality articles that are only around 400-500 words. But yeah, if you can try to submit an article every few days. Thanks for the great post!

Some say that you cannot start to expect traffic to your website till you have written at least 20 articles. At the end of the day it needs to be a continuous process. I have been writing articles for my blog for some time now but am still fairly new to article marketing and distribution on other websites i.e have less than 10 articles on Ezine or other such sites.

Writing articles on my website or blog has really worked for me, both in terms of SEO as well as user-base. In the coming few months, I plan to implement an active article marketing strategy and hope to publish at least 5 articles a month. My strategy is simple. One new article a week submitted to Ezine and about 50 other directories. This will be quite a time consuming process so I am eager to track the results over time. I will be posting results at the end of each month here on my blog in order to track its success.

What has really driven me to invest my time in an active article marketing strategy in the coming months is the long term effects that I hope to achieve. SEO is quite importnat for my London based web design business. In the last year press releases, etc have worked well for me but the results are short term. If I do not submit press release for a month then my rank and traffic seems to drop again. With well written articles, the key advantage for me is the fact that well written articles can continue to generate links and traffic on a cummulative basis many years after it was submitted.

Even if this is not feasible, you could try by publishing unique versions of the same article at least on the top few directories. Also remember that almost all article directories allow you to edit an article long after it has been first published. You can take full advantage of this by amending your articles in each directory as an when you have time. You can start from the top ones in your list and move downwards.

If you are able to amend all your articles in the top 5 or 10 directories, the overall quality of your back links will improve. It is OK to provide different points of view on the same topic. As such you may not need to modify your complete article and any variation will help.

Article submission may be tedious but is still one of the most effective ways to get links. Above all publishing on main sites has a viral effect. Other users will often re-publish your articles together with your author box. My website gets at least 10 back-links per week from this.
