Even if this is not feasible, you could try by publishing unique versions of the same article at least on the top few directories. Also remember that almost all article directories allow you to edit an article long after it has been first published. You can take full advantage of this by amending your articles in each directory as an when you have time. You can start from the top ones in your list and move downwards.

If you are able to amend all your articles in the top 5 or 10 directories, the overall quality of your back links will improve. It is OK to provide different points of view on the same topic. As such you may not need to modify your complete article and any variation will help.

Writing articles on my website or blog has really worked for me, both in terms of SEO as well as user-base. SEO is quite importnat for my London based web design business. In the last year press releases, etc have worked well for me but the results are short term. If I do not submit press release for a month then my rank and traffic seems to drop again. With well written articles, the key advantage for me is the fact that well written articles can continue to generate links and traffic on a cummulative basis many years after it was submitted.
