Technology has changed the way we do business. The rise of e-commerce, in particular, has reduced the barriers of entry for launching a profitable business and make money online.  This has paved the way for many young British entrepreneurs who have been able to set-up successful businesses and make the much needed positive contribution to the economy.

UK has an established history of entrepreneurship. I have made a list of 5 Young Entrepreneurs from the UK that started at a very young age and make a significant impact on their respective fields.  I hope you will find this list motivating and inspiriring.

1. Pete Cashmore

Founder: Mashable.Com

Pete Cashmore (born September 18, 1985) from Aberdeen, Scotland founded Mashable.Com at age 19. Mashable is one of the popular blogs on the Internet and is ranked in the top 10 blogs by Technorati. It is the perfect example if you want to make money blogging.

Pete Cashmore has also been featured in Forbes’ “Top 25 Web Celebs” as well as in the Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people.

2. Christian And Nicholas Candy

Founder: Candy & Candy

The Candy brothers, Aged 33 and 35 (2012) have taken the UK property market by storm. They are the foinders of the property development company, Candy and Candy. They first started in 1999 with a small loan of £6,000 and has quickly risen to the top of the property industry backed by wealthy investors. Today, the brothers were estimated to share a joint net worth of £330 million.

3. Lucian Tarnowski

Founder: Brave New Talent

Lucian is Founder and CEO of BraveNewTalent.com and is on a mission to create a new model of professional education. He has been honored as Europe’s youngest Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum. He is also winner of the Global Enterprising Young Brit of 2009. He was named as one of Britain’s raising business stars by The Spectator Business and is on the UKTI (UK Trade and Investment’s) Global Entrepreneur Program with BraveNewTalent being described by the UK Government as a “Technology Company of Exceptional Potential”.

4. Josh Buckley

Founder: MinoMonsters

Joshua Buckley born in 1992 is one of the youngest to feature in YHP’s the Top 20 Young Entrepreneurs to watch in 2012. In 2012, he was named to Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30.

Joshua is the founder and MinoMonsters, a Pokemon type game where you can battle and trade pet monsters. He is best known for being the youngest CEO to raise money from the $2.7 billion venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.

5. Nick D’Aloisio

Founder: Summly

At just 15 years of age, Nick D’Aloisio is one of the youngest British entrepreneurs to feature in the list of “The Top 20 Young Entrepreneurs to watch in 2012”. He was noticed online when he created Summly, an iPhone app which summarizes and simplifies the content of web pages and search results.  He has been recognized as one of the youngest person to receive venture capital funding in technology.
