22 April 2008 2 Comments

It is now widely accepted that search engine marketing is an essential marketing tool for small businesses. Online sales and usage are fast becoming the primary channels for all information and sales.

Above all, changes in behavioural patterns across the world suggests that we are relying more and more on the internet and search engines to obtain day to information and in many cases for buying our day to day products and services.

Britain is now leading the world in online marketing expenditure with an estimated 14 per cent of the overall expenditure for marketing in the UK in the current year. This is over double that of the United States.

In a survey 70% of entrepreneurs and small businesses in UK said that search engine marketing brought about the highest return on their investment and that they would increase spend this year.

The latest figures released on search engine trends and usage further confirms the strong marketing climate for search engine marketing in the United Kingdom.

Recent marketing reports predict a further rise in e-commerce sales during 2009. It seems the economic recession has been a driving factor for increased e-commerce sales. Marketing and advertising budgets have reduced during the current economic conditions and businesses seem to be moving away from tradition marketing methods. It is needless to mention that businesses that were quick to realise the importance of e-commerce have continued to fare well even during the current economic turmoil being faced worldwide.
